Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the US, affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year. Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, yet only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment. A 2020 New Zealand study monitored around 400 adults while on a strict CBD regiment for a 3 week trial period. Studies have shown that CBD can increase serotonin levels in the body thus reducing feelings of anxiety. With the right dosage, experts believe we can help curb anxiety induced symptoms on top of relieving aches. All participants in the study who received CBD treatment for anxiety or depression experienced improvements in their ability to perform daily functions and reduce pain and anxiety or depression symptoms. 70% of study participants reported some level of satisfaction with CBD treatment, ranging from good to excellent.
The research surrounding CBD and its potential therapeutic effects has grown exponentially over the past decade. Evidence suggests CBDs potential to help relieve anxiety, the most common mental health disorder. The FDA does not regulate CBD for treating anxiety. So, the quality and dosage can vary widely depending on the manufacturer (Buyers Beware!).
