Palm oil is everywhere these days. Just read the ingredient labels of your favorite soaps, lotions, and even food, and you are likely to see it pop up. Palm oil provides a whole host of benefits when added to soaps, because it is packed with the vitamins and antioxidants your skin craves in order to retain its moisture and give off that healthy glow. However, this amazingly diverse ingredient has come under a lot of scrutiny lately due to the way the product is derived. But can palm oil be sustainably and ethically sourced?
The answer to that question is a resounding yes! Like most things in life, palm oil cannot simply be labeled as either good or bad. It requires some follow-up questions. As a consumer, it is your right to know whether or not the products you are using and companies you are supporting are having a positive impact on our planet. That’s why we make it a priority that all of our ingredients, including our palm oil, have been sustainably and ethically harvested.
Because palm oil has become such a widespread ingredient over the years, the process of obtaining this product has become widely commercialized and has therefore led to mass deforestation. We stand strongly against these practices, which is why our palm oil comes only from palm trees which have been grown on local farms, which have been certified as being both sustainable and ethical. In order for these farms to gain this certification, the palms must be grown on smaller, preexisting farms, in order to avoid further deforestation. These small farms are usually located in rural areas, which helps create more jobs and in turn, support the local economies. For more information on palm oil, click here!
